What Do I Need to Know About Renter’s Insurance?

< 1 min read

To help protect both your personal belongings and the home you’re renting, GPS Renting requires all residents to carry active renter’s insurance with a minimum of $100,000 in liability coverage throughout the lease term.

1. Renter’s Insurance Requirement #

  • Minimum liability coverage: $100,000
  • GPS Renting must be listed as an “Interested Party” on the policy
  • Refer to your lease agreement for full insurance terms and details

2. Choose Your Own Insurance Provider #

We do not recommend using AppFolio’s built-in insurance option due to its limited coverage.
Instead, please purchase a policy from a provider of your choice and upload proof to your portal or email it to us.

How to submit your proof:

  • Upload your policy document in the Insurance tab of your AppFolio portal
    or
  • Email it at lease@gpsrenting.com

Please allow up to 48 hours for our team to process and verify your coverage.

3. Ongoing Insurance Maintenance #

Make sure to renew your renter’s insurance before it expires. If there is a lapse in active coverage:

  • A $500 monthly non-compliance fee will apply until updated proof is received.
